Have Insurance Requirements From a Client?
Send us the insurance requirements from your contract, lease, vendor agreement, or licensing agency. A KTL commercial insurance specialist will review the requirements and help determine the coverage, limits, and endorsements you need.
Which policies does an Oregon business need?
General liability addresses covered third-party injury and property-damage claims; a business owner policy can combine liability with eligible business property coverage. Workers’ compensation addresses employee workplace injuries. Professional liability covers eligible claims arising from your advice or services, while cyber addresses covered data breaches and cyber incidents. These policies are not interchangeable: a marketing agency handling client logins needs a different program from a contractor working at customer properties.
Oregon workers’ compensation: check subject-worker status
Oregon generally requires workers’ compensation when an employer has one or more subject workers. Independent-contractor status and statutory exemptions matter, so paying someone on a 1099 does not by itself establish an exemption. Before hiring caregivers, cleaners or field technicians, verify who belongs on the policy, the correct job classifications and payroll estimates. An owner-only business should check the Workers’ Compensation Division’s exemption guidance rather than assume coverage is unnecessary.
Contractor insurance and Oregon CCB requirements
Oregon Construction Contractors Board licensing includes liability-insurance and surety-bond requirements that vary by endorsement. The license bond is not a substitute for general liability or protection for your own tools. Send KTL your CCB endorsement, trade, subcontractor use and client requirements so we can review the right liability limits, completed-operations coverage, tools and equipment, commercial auto and workers’ compensation. A certificate alone cannot add coverage missing from the policy.
Home care, consultants and digital agencies
Home care businesses should distinguish non-medical assistance from skilled services and describe caregiver driving, patient contact and record access. That helps identify professional liability, hired and non-owned auto, abuse-related coverage and cyber needs alongside GL and workers’ compensation. Marketing consultants and digital agencies should review media liability, intellectual-property exclusions, client account access and cyber crime coverage instead of relying on GL to cover campaign mistakes or compromised credentials.
Oregon vehicles and property exposures
Vehicle ownership, delivery work and employee business driving can change whether personal auto coverage is suitable. Ask about commercial auto and hired and non-owned auto rather than assume a personal policy covers every work trip. For property, disclose your actual location, construction, wildfire exposure, equipment and business-interruption needs. Flood and earthquake commonly require separate coverage; compare exclusions and deductibles as well as the premium.
Compare Oregon quotes on equal terms
Share your operations, annual revenue, payroll by job, vehicles, claim history, current declarations and any contract wording. We compare limits, exclusions, deductibles, endorsements and payment terms before discussing the price. There is no single statewide premium that accurately prices a solo consultant, home care employer and construction firm. At renewal, update payroll and operations so an attractive initial premium does not become an unexpected audit bill.

Frequently asked questions
Is general liability required for every Oregon business?
There is no single GL requirement for every Oregon business. Specific licenses, including CCB endorsements, and leases or customer contracts can require coverage and limits. We review your actual requirements before recommending a policy.
Does Oregon require workers’ compensation for one employee?
Generally yes when that person is a subject worker. Oregon has statutory exemptions and independent-contractor rules; verify those before treating anyone as exempt.
How much does Oregon business insurance cost?
Your industry, revenue, payroll, claims, location and selected limits determine the quote. Request a comparison for your exact operations rather than rely on a statewide average that may exclude workers’ compensation, cyber or professional liability.
Can KTL review an Oregon client’s insurance requirements?
Yes. Send the contract or lease wording through our insurance requirements form. We check the required limits and endorsements against the proposed coverage before you commit.
Do you have an Oregon office?
KTL is based in Del Mar, California and licensed in Oregon. We serve Oregon businesses remotely by phone and email; we do not claim an Oregon office.
