Pool Service & Maintenance Insurance

Pool service combines chemical handling, equipment repair, and access to properties where drowning is a real exposure. That mix is why generic small-business policies fit poorly. KTL writes pool service programs that address chemical claims, equipment and pump work, and the HOA and property-manager certificate requirements that drive commercial route revenue.

  • Chemical handling and burn/inhalation exposure reviewed at quote
  • Repair and equipment installation covered, not excluded
  • HOA, apartment, and hotel COIs the same business day
  • Route vehicles and truck inventory scheduled correctly

Chemical claims are the specialty exposure

Mis-dosed chlorine, an acid spill, mixing incompatible chemicals in a truck bed, or a chemical burn to a swimmer are the claims unique to this trade. Standard forms may treat some of these as pollution and exclude them. A limited pollution endorsement plus clear documentation of your dosing and storage procedures keeps the coverage intact and the premium reasonable.

What pool service insurance costs

Cleaning-only routes are the least expensive. Adding repair, heater and pump installation, or acid washing increases both liability and workers' comp cost.

OperationGeneral liability $1M/$2MNotes
Solo cleaning route, residential$600–$1,200/yrAdd HNOA for the service truck
Cleaning + equipment repair$1,200–$2,800/yrCompleted operations matters
Commercial / HOA & hotel accounts$2,500–$6,000/yrHigher limits, additional insured

Repair work and completed operations

If you replace pumps, heaters, or automation, you have taken on completed operations exposure — a heater that fails and floods an equipment pad or a pump wired incorrectly that starts a fire. Confirm products-completed operations aggregate is intact and not excluded, and if you perform any electrical or gas connections, disclose it, because several carriers exclude those trades on a pool service form.

Commercial accounts, gates, and drowning exposure

HOA, apartment, and hotel contracts require $1M/$2M general liability, often a $1M–$5M umbrella, additional insured status, a waiver of subrogation, and workers' comp. Leaving a gate unlatched is a documented source of catastrophic claims, so underwriters ask about access protocols. A written gate-and-key policy improves both your pricing and your defense.
